REPORT ON THE 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Sophia High School, Mount Abu, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour, dignity and enthusiasm. The celebration commenced with the arrival of our respected School Manager, Sister Arpita, our Honourable Sister Principal, Sister Abha, respected Sister Sushma, and our Special Guest, Ma’am Archana Khanna. The event was also graced by the presence of our Management Sisters, Sister Blanche, Sister Amrita, Sister Anjana and Sister Vimla.
The Flag Hoisting Ceremony began with Vande Mataram, our National Song. The National Flag was then hoisted in the school ground by our esteemed Special Guest, followed by the National Anthem, sung by the entire school. With a warm welcome, the programme began with an introduction to the significance of the day, followed by a solemn Prayer Service by secondary students, seeking God’s blessings for our nation.
The cultural programme began with a delightful “Ghar Ghar Tiranga” dance by the KG students, whose colourful presentation and innocent enthusiasm were warmly appreciated. This was followed by a poem on Rani Lakshmibai by a Class 3B student, beautifully portraying her courage and patriotism. A heartfelt poem by a Class 4B student expressed the love, courage and pride of a soldier for the nation.
The melodious patriotic song “Watan Yeh Hamara Hai, Pyara Hindustan” presented by Class 4A filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervour and beautifully expressed the students’ love for their motherland. This was followed by the patriotic song by Class 3B, which further enhanced the spirit of national pride. The students’ confidence, expressions and melodious performances were highly appreciated. The vibrant Patriotic Dance and energetic Punjabi Dance by the secondary students added colour and cultural richness to the programme and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Our esteemed Special Guest, Ma’am Archana Khanna, addressed the gathering on the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the responsibility of the youth in nation-building. Sister Principal also urged the students to uphold the values of truth, service and character, the cherished motto of Sophia.
The programme concluded with the National Pledge led by the Head Girl, followed by the resounding cries of “Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!” Finally, sweets were distributed to the children, bringing the celebration to a joyful close.
The celebration was a meaningful reminder of our freedom and our responsibility towards the nation, leaving every Sophian with a renewed sense of pride, discipline, gratitude and patriotism.
